Remembering Bill Northey: An Unwavering Commitment to Biofuels and Ag
February 5, 2024
(ANKENY, Iowa) -- Former Iowa Ag Secretary and Trump administration USDA leader Bill Northey has died at the age of 64. The Agribusiness Association of Iowa, where Northey was CEO, announced the news Monday.
Grant Kimberley, Executive Director of the Iowa Biodiesel Board and Senior Director of Market Development for the Iowa Soybean Association, issued the following statement:
“It is with deep sadness that we note the passing of Bill Northey. He was a longtime friend of Iowa and biodiesel, as well as biofuel and agriculture producers. He was a tireless advocate for the industry and will be deeply missed. His dedication to the success of biodiesel and the agricultural community has left an indelible mark. His leadership and advocacy were instrumental in shaping policies that not only promoted sustainability but also empowered farmers to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of agriculture.
"He was a great friend that I had the opportunity to get to know and work with over the years, traveling overseas on behalf of Iowa and U.S. soybean farmers and exporters, and working with him to grow the biodiesel market for the betterment of producers, farmers and the state of Iowa. He was a man of deep Christian faith and a devoted family man. Our deepest condolences to his family."
