Iowa Biodiesel Board Welcomes Grassley Aide to Lead Biodiesel Federal Affairs

December 12, 2017

(ANKENY, Iowa) –  The National Biodiesel Board has announced that Kurt Kovarik, legislative director for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), will join the trade association’s Washington D.C. office as Vice President of Federal Affairs. Iowa Biodiesel Board Executive Director Grant Kimberley issued the following statement:

“We congratulate and fully support Kurt Kovarik in his new position to lead the federal efforts of the national biodiesel industry. Kurt is already known to many in the biodiesel and renewable fuel industry for his work as legislative director for Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley—our number one biodiesel champion in the U.S. Senate. Senator Grassley’s tireless efforts on behalf of biodiesel are made possible by the hard work behind the scenes of people like Kurt. He is deeply knowledgeable about the issues and the legislative climate our industry faces, as well as all the benefits biodiesel can add to strategic American energy policy. Having him on the team at NBB will be an invaluable asset as we move the industry forward.

“In Iowa, we are especially enthusiastic about Kurt’s leadership. We feel a special kinship to Senator Grassley and the hard-working people who devote themselves to causes important to Iowans. We welcome him and look forward to working with him more in the future.”

Biodiesel – made from a variety of resources including soybean oil, recycled cooking oil and animal fats – is the first EPA-designated Advanced Biofuel to reach commercial-scale production nationwide.
