Chevron

Chevron is one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, guided by the belief that affordable, reliable and ever-cleaner energy is essential to enabling human progress. The company’s renewable fuels business produces lower carbon fuels to help customers across a variety of industries meet their lower carbon goals.

Chevron operates seven biorefineries in the United States and two in Europe that convert renewable and other resources, such as soft oilseed crops as well as waste materials, into high-quality fuels, like biodiesel, renewable diesel, renewable propane and renewable naphtha and other coproducts. Scaled by thoughtful policy frameworks, these fuel solutions play a vital role in the energy transition and advance meaningful progress toward building the lower carbon energy system of the future.

In Iowa, Chevron has active biodiesel production facilities in Newton and Mason City that produced 65 million gallons of fuel derived from 530 million pounds of feedstock in 2024. In addition, the company maintains a corporate office and lower carbon fuels technology center in Ames, and operates five on-farm digesters in the state that produce renewable natural gas. Chevron has invested in other novel feedstocks in the state, including intermediate oil seed crops and algal solutions.
