National Biodiesel Day: Celebrating Plants that are Good for Iowa

March 18 is National Biodiesel Day, and the Iowa Biodiesel Board is celebrating the versatile Iowa “plants” that contribute to the state. Biodiesel comes to us from plants: Soybean plants. Canola plants. Rendering plants. Biodiesel manufacturing plants. All of these plants share a common thread in our industry: they are the basis for a sound U.S. energy policy. And all of them grows Iowa jobs and the economy.

New Biodiesel Food Safety Program available for biodiesel producers!

The Iowa Biodiesel Board has developed a Food Safety Program for biodiesel producers, designed to assist producers who want to sell glycerin, a byproduct of biodiesel production, for use as an animal food ingredient.

Biodiesel in Iowa

Iowa is a national leader in biodiesel production.

Biodiesel is a cleaner-burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. Biodiesel contains no petroleum, but can be blended at any level with diesel to create a blend.

Iowa biodiesel producers play a critical role in providing the nation with America's only Advanced Biofuel.  This economic activity benefits all of Iowa.
